Mental & Behavioral Problems in Children/Adolescents

Children and adolescents can also present with emotional issues that can have a significant negative impact on  their behaviour and daily life, such as lack of concentration, enthusiasm, self-respect, will to change, encouragement, and so on. These issues can spiral into their adult lives in various ways and gets channelled into other zones, which can create problems in the relationships, professional life, and health.

ADHD is a common childhood disorder that persists into adulthood for one third to one half of people diagnosed with it. Other childhood disorders we commonly see are Oppositional Defiant Disorder (which can persist into adulthood as a personality disorder), Autism, depression, anxiety, somatoform disorders, etc.

Various treatment modalities can be implemented to optimize the developmental potential of children and families by providing interventions based on the principles of child development and child psychopathology. It is imperative to focus on the involvement of the family in treatment interventions 
After a detailed evaluation of the child and the family, a comprehensive management plan is made, including medication, parental guidance and counselling, and parenting skills training and education.
